|BRKC Drivers Dominate at BIKC

BRKC drivers dominated the standings at Teamsport’s British Indoor Karting Championship this weekend, with BRKC finalist Sam Slater taking a third British title at Teamsport Warrington on Sunday evening.

Sam was joined on the podium by fellow BRKC semi-finalists Christopher Ball and Sebastian Miller, who took 2nd and 3rd place respectively after a nail-biting finale in the Middleweight category, making a full BRKC top three. Frequent BRKC driver Adam Davis also made the Grand Final, finishing 15th overall.

Elsewhere, BRKC veteran Russell Endean stayed clear of a scrappy field in the Heavyweight category to finish on the podium after an accomplished performance in the Heats and Semi-Finals.

A sizeable number of BRKC drivers filled the grids at Warrington throughout the weekend, beating over 4000 entrants over several qualifying rounds to the championship to a place in the BIKC finals.

BIKC champion Sam Slater said:

I'm incredibly proud to be taking a third British title today. I was surprised to be given a three second penalty during the final, which meant I had to pull a big lead over Chris Ball to win the championship.

Chris and Sebastian didn't make it easy for me and were pushing me all the way to the flag, but I managed to clinch it on the last lap with enough of a gap to take the win. I've got my fair share of racing bruises but it feels great to be back on the top step after a difficult championship last year.

It was great to see so many BRKC drivers here today, I know they can't wait to prove themselves against an top international grid in January for BRKC 2024. It's the toughest competition in rental karting and today shows the Brits have a fighting chance of taking the championship this year.

The 2024 British Rental Kart Championship is about to enter the final phase of public entries this week, with a final 35 places on the grid remaining up for grabs on Wednesday evening.

So far, the grid has seen most of the seeded entries from BRKC 2023 return, including reigning champion Vica Schledz, world champion Ruben Boutens, multi-BIKC champions Dante Dhillon and Sam Slater, as well as a contingent of top-level competitors from all over Europe and as far out as the USA.

Congratulations to all BIKC finalists and best of luck to those taking on BRKC in 2024!
